Paul Ciminello of WCD attended a Town Board meeting at 8:00 a.m. Mr. Ciminello answered questions from the Town Board and members of the public.
NRC began loading trucks at 8:00 a.m. with the first round complete by 10:00 a.m. 16 loads had been scheduled for today (8 trucks x 2 rounds). NRC applied continuous odor suppression (foam + biosol) during all excavation activity and truck loading. All PID readings around the perimeter of the Site at 0.0 by 10:45 a.m. No odors were observed with the exception of occasional odor suppression agent odors downwind.
NRC moved the excavation dewatering system (sump, sonitube and hose) further north, moving with the excavation progression.
Michael Jefferson, Communications Director for the NY State Senate stopped by to observe/address complaints the NY State Senate had received in regard to odors emanating off of the Site. NRC walked him onsite so that he could observe the efforts being made to suppress odors. He seemed content with activities onsite.
7 trucks returned for the second round (15 trucks total), and were all loaded and offsite by 2:15 p.m. The final (16th) truck did not return. NRC continuously applied odor suppression agents (foam + Biosol). There were no positive PID readings from the Site perimeter. A few slight odors were observed downwind during excavation, but they quickly dissipated. Additionally, NRC received 3 loads of clean stone today.
No complaints were received today at the site.
