4 trucks were loaded and made 2 trips. The first four loads had left by 10:15 a.m. No off-site positive PID readings or petroleum odors were recorded during loading. Field screening by NYSDEC of the soil being loaded onto the last truck revealed no positive PID readings nor odors. Odor suppressant application and foaming continued throughout loading.
Four trucks loaded this afternoon. Slight odors and no positive PID readings at site perimeter. Predominantly shallow soils which exhibited little evidence of petroleum contamination were excavated and loaded. Odor suppressant application and foaming continued throughout loading.
Excavation required for construction of the building is complete; however, the GC in consultation with the NYSDEC determined that soils below 7′ below surface grade at the eastern end of the excavation exhibited sufficient field evidence of contamination to warrant additional excavation. This work will be performed tomorrow. Two trucks will make two rounds.
