Rec Commission


The mission of the New Castle Recreation and Parks Department is to enhance the quality of life in New Castle through sports, leisure and other recreational experiences and to provide a safe environment that emphasizes fun and the joy of personal development through participation and discovery at all ages. The Department is responsible for the administrative, programmatic and park maintenance services which include over 150 different recreation activities, 550 acre park system and very active community and art centers. The Department is governed by a seven-member Commission in accordance with New York State law.

CRAFTS CREATIONS   with Instructor: Cathy Colavito & Staff

Day & Time   Wednesday, 12:45pm to 3:45pm

Lots of Interesting craft ideas for boys and girls to enjoy making.  There will be a variety of “Foam Crafts”, magic color scratch items, sticker scenes, fun projects using colored markers, and other decorative crafts.  A happy time for all!  .  Snacks will be provided.    REGISTER HERE


GAME DAY        with Instructor: Cathy Colavito & Staff  

Ages:              5-13

Day & Time   Thursdays, 1:30pm to 3:30pm

Fee:                $20

Come join us in playing a variety of interactive group and team games, thought-provoking word puzzles, fun board games and group jigsaw puzzles.  A nice way to spend a Thursday afternoon without your computers and video games.  Snacks will be provided.  REGISTER HERE

For the most up-to-date information regarding program cancellations and field closings, we offer the following notification options:

  • Call the Recreation Hotline: (914) 238 – 2540…message is updated by 3:00pm on weekdays and by 7:00am on weekends (or earlier when necessary).
  • Register to receive field updates and program alerts via e-mail and/or text messages through the Town’s CodeRED Community Notification System.  You must register to receive alerts, please note this process will enroll you in the Town’s emergency notification system, and will also add you to the Recreation & Parks Department Field and Program Alerts Notification List.  Click here to enroll in the CodeRED Community Notification System. When asked, “Would you like to create a managed account?” Answer “YES”, this will give you the option to check the “Recreation & Parks Field and Program Alerts” box under the “Community Notifications” section.
