NEW: Chappaqua Farmers Market – NOW WE’RE TALKIN…

Ok. So we’ve leapfrogged right into summer. The proof is in the bins at Caradonna Farms where you can find lots of zucchini this weekend as well as sweet cherries.

Yes. Sweet. Cherries.

Let me count the ways. You could go savory, by tossing pitted sweet cherries in a bright summer salad as in this NY Times recipe. Or, by roasting your balsamic-drenched cherries for about twenty minutes, and then working them into your next summer grilled cheese sandwich.

And of course, there’s always cherry clafoutis. A sentimental favorite I never tire of championing. The French often rarely pit the cherries for this recipe because, they claim, the pits actually impart a slight almond flavor to this flan-style dessert. Up to you which way you want to go. LawnChair Theater Returns!

LawnChair Theater Returns with the perfect play for the middle of summer. The Town of New Castle along with the Art & Culture Committee present LawnChair Theater Company’s version of Shakespeare’s “The Tempest” at the Recreation Field on Friday, July 20th at 6:00 pm. Bring a blanket or a chair and have a picnic dinner while watching the play.

Please note: The Chappaqua Performing Arts Center is the rain venue.

Lawn Chair Theater is a summer theater program that has brought outdoor performances to the parks of Westchester since 2005. They have had great fun producing plays of Shakespeare during summertime. Their casts are multi-generational, blending both professional and amateur performers. Their goal is to contemporize Shakespeare without rewriting him, and to create community through their work and play.
