Town of New Castle Administrator’s Report – 02/15/17
New Castle Administrator’s Report – 2/15/2017
Town Administrator, New Castle
After the Storms….
After the past week of wild weather- I would like commend our Department of Public Works for their outstanding cleanup after the storms last Thursday and over the weekend.
Also- thanks to Sani-Pro for providing a truck over the weekend at our recycling center so that residents who missed their pickups had the option to wait for the truck to come back earlier this week or to bring down garbage to the recycling center. We appreciate their commitment to work with us through the bad weather.
Monday’s Wind Event
Gale force gusts of almost 70 mph took out electricity to over 400 residents of New Castle on Monday. Although more than half were restored by Monday night- half were still in the dark on Tuesday. I am happy to report that by 3 pm Tuesday, only 6 homes were without electricity and all were restored by last night.
We appreciate that residents called con ed directly in order for con ed to be immediately notified of the extent of the outages-so thank you- the number of people who called in helped our position with requesting repairs from Con Ed.
Construction Manager RFP for the Down Town Infrastructure Project
The deadline for submission of bids for the construction management of the downtown infrastructure project was this past Monday at noon. WE received a number of responses. Staff is combing through those replies- calling references and we hope will be to the Town Board on February 28 with recommendations as to our next step: meeting the top candidates before making a decision.
