First Half of 2018-2019 School Taxes are Due!
The first half of the 2018-2019 school tax bill is due without penalty by October 1, 2018. The tax office will be open on Monday, October 1 from 7 am to 7 pm to accept payments in person. You can always use our on line payment system without charge (for ACH only) at www.mynewcastle.org and press the icon for Pay Your Taxes. Payments by credit card on line are subject to a 3% service charge.
If you are mailing your payment via the United States Post Office, please make certain you see the post office affix a USPS Postmark to the letter. The law allows us to accept a valid USPS postmark as evidence of timely mailing even if the actual payment is received after the due date.
Please note that the tax office will hold post- dated checks for deposit on October 1, 2018.
Questions? Please call the tax office at 238-4773.

2019 Tentative Budget
The 2019 Budget process starts with the Town Board next week. At the end of this week, we expect to provide the Board with copies of the 2019 Tentative Budget. (It is currently at the printer.) At our next two meetings next Tuesday night and next Wednesday morning, we will present the 2019 Tentative Budget to the Board followed by meetings with the Department heads over the course of those two days. This tentative budget is in large part the result of staff meetings that Rob Deary and I have been conducting since August.
The Tentative Budget contains staff recommendations for their individual department expenditures. The Town Board then takes staff recommendations into consideration and makes their own changes to that tentative budget. This revised budget is the Preliminary Budget.
At the Wednesday, November 7 Town Board meeting, the Preliminary Budget will be scheduled for a public hearing on November 27. During that November 27 public hearing Rob Deary will conduct his annual Budget Presentation and invite the public’s comments and suggestions. The 2019 Budget will be discussed over the course of the following Town Board meetings and set down for approval at the December 11,2018 Town Board meeting.
