Route 120 Sidewalk Replacement Project

Route 120 Sidewalk from Grafflin to Ridgewood Terrace has begun. As you may know, Con Ed began their gas main replacement work up NYS Route 120 by Grafflin school in late July. After they completed phase 1 in mid September, which involved replacing the section of gas main from Grafflin to Ridgewood Terrace, we were able to start our reconstruction of this section of the 120 sidewalk. We are expecting Con Ed to return to complete the gas main replacement in April of 2018. This will involvement replacement of the aging gas main from Ridgewood Terrace to Elm Street. After Con Ed completes, this work, the Town will complete the restoration of the 120 sidewalk. This will involve new concrete and granite curbs throughout.

NYSDOT Announces Repaving of the Saw Mill Parkway

The Engineer in Charge of Construction for Region 8 of the NYSDOT met today with New Castle Police, DPW, our Town Planner, Town Engineer and myself along with Chappaqua Transportation, to inform us that the State DOT will start a mill and fill re-pavement of the Saw Mill Parkway starting this Sunday night. The parkway will be closed during this night work. The schedule will be Sunday through Friday nights 9 pm to 6 am Northbound and 9 pm to 5 am Southbound. The work area extends from Reader’s Digest Road (Exit 33) to Grant Avenue/Marble Avenue Pleasantville. The State is expecting to have this work completed by Halloween! The police will be making notifications to our first responders- and NYSDOT has reached out to area hospitals to alert them to the detour- NYS Route 117. She did want our residents to be aware that it would be loud, very bright but very quick- and that they were doing their best to complete this project with minimal inconvenience to our residents.
