The importance of unity, caring and community is the theme we turn to most in this eNewsletter. Our community of New Castle is part of the larger community of the United States. Just as we rally around our local neighbors when they are in need, we want to find ways to support our neighbors further away in Texas. We are a generous and caring community. Please join us in aiding those whose lives have been made so difficult. A few options are listed below.
As well, tomorrow (Wed., Aug., 30th) from 1:30pm – 6:00pm, Senator Terrence Murphy & The Town of New Castle are holding a community blood drive. New Castle Town Hall, 200 South Greeley Avenue.
American Red Cross
The American Red Cross is accepting donations by phone and online. Donors may text HARVEY to 90999 to make a $10 donation, or call 1-800-RED-CROSS. Or you can visit their website here.
The Salvation Army
The Salvation Army is also providing physical and emotional support to Harvey survivors and relief workers. Donors may make contributions to the “Hurricane Harvey Relief Efforts” online, by mail or by phone.
Harvey Relief Fund
Houston Mayor Sylvester Turner established a Harvey relief fund at The Greater Houston Community Foundation. The organization connects donors with a network of nonprofits and innovative solutions in the social sector. You can find their website here.
United Way of Greater Houston
United Way of Greater Houston has launched a relief fund for storm-related needs and recovery. The organization says it already maintains a disaster relief fund but anticipates the needs of Harvey will far exceed those existing resources. To help out, visit their website here.
