Grievance Day 2020
You may submit complaint forms starting June 1, 2020
The Board of Assessment Review for the Town of New Castle will meet to hear and examine all properly filed complaints in relation to the 2020 tentative assessments of real property on Tuesday, June 16, 2020 from 9am-11am and from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the following video conference link: www.youtube.com/c/nccmc. The Board of Assessment Review may, pursuant to Section 512 of the Real Property Tax Law, thereafter adjourn to a later date and time for the purpose of hearing complaints.
Due to public health and safety concerns related to COVID-19, the Board of Assessment Review will not be meeting in-person. In accordance with the Governor’s Executive Orders 202.1 and 202.22, the June 16, 2020 meeting and hearings will be held via videoconferencing, and a transcript will be provided at a later date. The public will have an opportunity to watch and/or hear the meeting and hearings live at Board of Assessment Review LIVE.
Due to Covid-19 restrictions, property owners are strongly encouraged to mail complaints grieving 2020 tentative assessments, along with any supporting documentation, to the Town Assessor, New Castle Town Hall, 200 South Greeley Avenue, Chappaqua, New York 10514, prior to June 16, 2020. Complaints arriving after 8:00 p.m. on June 16, 2020 are NOT timely filed regardless of postmark date. Complaint forms may also be deposited at Town Hall in the designated drop box located in the first floor lobby. Complaint forms received before 4:30pm on June 11, 2020 may request a designated time for a hearing before the Board of Assessment Review on June 16th. Please email DLombardi@mynewcastle.org to schedule an appointment after filing the complaint form. Complainants will be contacted by the Office of the Town Assessor prior June 16, 2020 with a specific time and instructions for remote videoconference to participate in such hearing.
Please submit five (5) copies of RP-524 along with supporting documentation to the Board of Assessment Review should you NOT wish to discuss your case with them.
Please submit six (6) copies of RP-524 along with supporting documentation to the Board of Assessment Review should you desire an audience with them on Grievance Day.
Upon submission of RP-524, you will be emailed a questionnaire to be completed and returned prior to June 26, 2020.
The 2020 Uniform Percent of Value (LOA), New York State Equalization Rate, and Residential Assessment Ratio is 19.06%.
