Chappaqua Downtown Revitalization – February 26, 2019
Work will resume on the Downtown Chappaqua Infrastructure and Streetscape Project on April 1st. Our traffic consultant will be studying and will provide an opinion regarding making lower King into a two-way street. Based on their initial research, lower King Street can accommodate two-way traffic flow if the 16 angled parking are converted to 6 parallel parking spots – a loss of 10 spots. However, with Allen Place also becoming a two-way street, the current 23 angled parking spaces can be changed to 33 perpendicular spots – a gain of 10 spots. So the ten (10) additional spaces on Allen Place would offset the loss of ten (10) spots on lower King. Our traffic engineer will provide further analysis regarding the impact of changing the traffic pattern in the commuter lot. They will analyze the impact on the current exits, the added traffic to lower King and study the necessary signal adjustments to the new traffic light coming to the King & Greeley intersection.
