Listen to ALAN MOSKIN, WWII Veteran and Liberator, share his life changing story.
Although Nazi persecution of Jews and others was not a secret, liberation forces opened the world’s eyes to the reality of the Nazi regime‘s terror. As an 18 year old soldier, Mr. Moskin somberly remembers the day they discovered the Gunskirchen concentration camp. “I remember my buddies and I looked at each other...We knew Hitler wasn’t fond of Jews, but we hadn’t heard anything about any concentration camps...We tried to cover our mouths and noses with a bandana, but it got worse and worse, and all of a sudden I remember looking through some trees and seeing a big barbed wire sort of compound. That turned out to be the Gunskirchen concentration camp.” After this discovery, Mr. Moskin’s life would never be the same.
