For New Castle Residents – Every Day is Earth Day

From the New Castle Sustainability Advisory Board

In the past 12 months our residents and business showed the world that we’re committed to sustainability. The Town Board passed a resolution showing our commitment to fulfilling our obligations under the Paris Accord and we’re working to achieve them.

Reusable Bag Initiative
Every week we save tens of thousands of bags from entering our waterways and food stream, and littering our roads and parks. We have the most comprehensive law in the State and it’s now the model for: ordinances being introduced in towns throughout Westchester, a bill being introduced for the County, and a bill being introduced in the State legislature.

Our solar rooftops are producing hundreds of thousands of kwh from the sun every year and saving GHGs from entering the atmosphere.

Over 80% of New Castle residents and business use green power for their electricity!

And we’ve done so much more together. But there’s more to come.

The SAB will soon introduce municipal composting. Residents will be able to bring their compost to a central location. We’ll save GHGs and save the town money.

LED Street Lights
Forget the old inefficient lights that burn out every couple of years. We’re installing highly efficient LED lights that look good, save GHGs, and save money – and they last a long long time.

Know Your Environment and What You Can Do
Come with the kids to the acclaimed Leonardo DiCaprio film Before the Flood on Thursday, May 3, 2018, 7pm, at the Chappaqua Performing Arts Center (Cost: Free). If you missed it at Jacob Burns, this one night only showing is your chance to see it.

Find a way to be more sustainable every day, and if you want to get big things done, join the SAB. Contact
