New Castle Administrator’s Report: 1/8/2019
Administrator, New Castle
Second Half School and Town Taxes
Second Half School Taxes are due Thursday, January 31, 2019. As usual, the Tax Office will be open 7am to 7pm on January 31, but there is no reason to wait for the last minute. The Tax Office holds post-dated checks. Checks can be brought in this week or mailed, dated for January 31, and we will hold them until Thursday January 31 for deposit.
We also provide access to an online payment system on our website that allows for no-fee payment of your taxes by an ACH payment. There is also a credit card option that has a service fee.
It’s January, so naturally we are advertising for our summer internship opportunities. If you or someone you know is a resident and will have at least one year of college completed as of June 2019, with knowledge of GIS, the Town is offering $1500 six week fulltime internships with the Town. In addition, there are a few administrative internships available.
In addition, DPW has opportunities for residents looking for outside work this summer. This summer if you are a 19 year old with a clean driving record, we will have two positions for painting fire hydrants at $15 an hour. Applications for all positions should be directed to me at Jshapiro@mynewcastle.org. Please provide a good contact number or email address for us to reach you along with a resume. The deadline for submission is February 1.
Our DPW crews are out and about on pole hole repairs. I know that a lot of people have been responding to Supervisor Greenstein’s reminders about the email firstname.lastname@example.org to report potholes throughout Town. Just a reminder that the repair work is weather dependent. If it is wet or too cold the repair does not hold, so we can’t do it. So it’s not that we did not get your request, but as soon as conditions allow, our crews will be back out.
